Why it matters

The goal belongs to the student.

Wanting it is not enough. Reaching it takes routines that turn a goal into daily action. A coach who believes in the student, and holds them to a high standard, makes the difference.

  • A student and a coach go over a planner together at a desk in a sunlit classroom.
  • A student ties her running shoes on a misty forest trail.
  • A house at night with a student playing drums in the lit garage.

How it works

Set the goal. Build the routines. See the progress.

  1. Step 1: The profile

The student answers 32 questions in about 6 minutes, and a coach or parent adds a second rating, so the plan starts from two views.

  2. Step 2: The playlist

The result suggests a sequence of strategy cards, and the coach and student choose where to start.

  3. Step 3: The process

They meet each week, reflect together, and practice one card for 3 weeks until the coach signs it off.

What students build

The skills behind every goal.

Every profile shows a strength and a growth area across 4 skill areas. Each card is one routine, practiced for 3 weeks.

For coaches

Your clients. Your methods. Our tools.

The dashboard shows every student on your caseload in one place: where each one stands across the 4 skill areas, what changed since last week, and which cards are in use or signed off.

Shared weekly reflections keep one record of the conversation, seen by both of you.

You lead the session. The coaching stays yours.

Example data. Students shown by initials. No student is compared to another.

A student points at a weekly plan on a whiteboard while a coach listens.
A parent and a teenager sit on a sofa and look at a tablet together.

For parents

Their goals. A coach who believes in them.

Your child has goals that matter to them. Teenagers often hear the same advice differently from a trusted adult outside the family. ThriveType brings your child and their coach together around one plan, and you see the same progress the coach sees. If you are the coach, the same tools work for you.

Built on evidence

Built on strong evidence.

ThriveType is research-informed. Every strategy comes from research on executive function, motivation, and learning, and from years of coaching in schools.

Strong
Supported by meta-analyses or several controlled trials.
Moderate
Supported by some trials, or by large correlational studies, often with adults or university students.
Practice-based
Common in coaching and widely used, with little direct research. We say so plainly.

Each card carries one of these labels, so coaches and families can see the evidence behind it.

From the founder

A note from the founder

I have coached students in middle and high schools for years, as a learning support teacher and as a school leader, in public, independent, and international schools.

I have also coached teachers and other professionals, including as a research partner with Dr. Jim Knight.

I built ThriveType with many other coaches. It is the dashboard and the curriculum we wished we had in every one of those rooms.
